What you need to know about Nokia 6.2 before buying in Kenya

It’s been a few weeks already since HMD global officially unveiled the Nokia 6.2 lineup in Kenya, but the handsets has been missing on shelves at least until now. Kenyans can now pre-order this device from select outlets and be among the first batch to use it. But if you’re in the market, shopping for your next android device and unsure which way to lean, we’ve compiled some of the most looked after specs on the Nokia 6.2 and how it compares on the market with other devices within the same price range.

Full disclosure on android use

To start with, I have to disclose my relationship with android devices; it’s been a while since I used one as my daily driver, and you wouldn’t be mistaken to notice my obvious favoritism to iOS counterparts. But let’s face it, there are just a couple of components one would look at and be in a position to tell whether a device is worth your hard earned money.

What you need to know about Nokia 6.2

The Nokia 6.2 brings a step up on HMD’s 6 series by being the first device to feature a triple camera and PureDisplay technology. From the general outlook, the Nokia 6.2 comes up as a strong contender at the affordable end of the Android smartphone market. It’ll be a stretch to imagine it putting some very interesting devices such as Xiaomi Mi A3 out of market but from the look of things, it’ll put up an impressive fight.

Display panel

The Nokia 6.2 has a relatively moderate smartphone look with no standout distinction from the competition, it comes with sheets of Gorilla Glass sandwiching a polymer composite chassis – a material which is touted to be twice as hard as polycarbonate, and half the weight of aluminum. Underneath the Gorilla glass is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that stretches across to achieve an overall 6.3 inches, at a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and pixel density of 400 ppi.

Other notable specs on Nokia 6.2

The Nokia 6.2 is the first of its series to feature a combination of three sensors at the back. The main sensor adds up to 16MP, followed by a second 8MP, f/2.2 ultra-wide angle camera and lastly a 5MP depth sensor that tweaks the background of your subject to blurred.

Since Nokia 6.2 is part of Google’s Android One program, meaning it has an almost stock version of the Android operating system, expect to have a cleaner look of the OS with guaranteed major updates for a period of two years, and three years of security patches. Therefore, expect to get major OS updates that future proofs your device at least for the next three years with important updates.

Performance

Under the hood is 3GB RAM for the 32GB version and 4GB RAM for the 64GB version and same amount of RAM for the 128GB version. It comes with Qualcomm SDM636 Snapdragon 636 Octa-core CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz and is powered by a non-removable Li-Po 3500 mAh battery.

Nokia 6.2 price in Kenya
