Vivo is definitely in this game for a fair share, despite a flooded market that features some interesting alternatives, Vivo seems to be unstoppable at least here in Kenya and has released some worthy handsets including the latest Vivo V19. In comparison to just a few years back, Kenyans have a wide variety of options when it comes to the android ecosystem and it’ll be naïve to outrightly crown Vivo’s latest entrant. However, given the specs and price point, it’ll be interesting to see how this pans out especially against similarly priced alternatives.

We’ve so far seen what Vivo considers mid-range from their recent offering; and the V19’s price against the specs, Vivo is definitely in for a slice on the top-end mid-tier segment. Churning out a whole Ksh41,000 for the average Kenyan isn’t something that can be done on a glimpse, it definitely requires some school of thought, and the Vivo V19 has some interesting specs in areas that matter that might just justify this and eventually enjoy a ride in a pool full of android alternatives.

Vivo V19 has launched in the country with some interesting specifications that we don’t see on a daily basis; for once, we get a dual punch-hole selfie camera that is yet to go mainstream on most devices that are available locally. We also get a stunning Super AMOLED FHD+ Ultra O Screen design that should reproduce vivid images, deep blacks as well as crisp text and overall pleasant to look at. In my opinion, if you have that stubborn question as to why this should be your next phone, then the display panel should definitely be your deciding point; we don’t get AMOLED panels this often.

Speaking on the launch, Vivo Kenya CEO Arthur Xian said the company was committed to innovating with the consumer in mind, and the V19 reflected Vivo’s deep understanding of consumers’ needs. Xian further said the handset comes with industry-leading selfie technology, a beautiful design and strong performance, adding the V19 was perfect for young consumers who cared about the camera and entertainment features.

On the front panel, it packs a dual front camera setup that comprises of a 32MP main sensor and an 8MP super wide-angle camera that will enable users take quality selfie moments, regardless of time or place. The selfie shooter can accommodate a wide area of up to 105 degrees and packs a built-in AI algorithm that can independently correct wide-angle distortion between foreground and background for authentic and dazzling shots. Users will also capture Ultra-Stable Selfie Videos on the sensor.

At the rear end, it houses a Quad Camera setup that consists of a 48MP main camera, 8MP super wide-angle camera, 2MP macro camera, and 2MP Bokeh camera. underneath are some software and hardware tweaks that make it possible to utilize AI image and video features, including AI Video Filters, AI Video Editor, and AI Image Matting for professional-grade editable videos.
