StarTimes Digital TV was officially launched in Kenya on 12thJune 2012 at an event that was attended by then Kenya’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga and the minister in charge of communications Samuel Poghisio. It has the lowest subscription packages so far starting from just Ksh.499 for their basic bouquet and the cost of their decoders going for only Ksh.2,999. Viewers are allowed to upgrade to other packages at much lower rates within the first three days of decoder activation, after which any upgrade can be made after paying the full amount of the destined bouquet. Though StarTimes TV still has minimal live sporting channels which Kenyan’s love, it has the lowest subscription rates coupled with steadfast customer care and an aggressive campaign enabling them to appeal to most Kenyan households.
