The interiors unfold in a sun-kissed palette of mosaic tiles, bespoke textiles, and low-slung seating, inspired by 1970s design and Mediterranean and Arabic influences.

At the gateway of Victoria’s King Valley, Lancemore Milawa by The Stella Collective offers a cultivated change of pace among the grapevines and the region’s best produce.
Designed to evoke the intimacy of a private home, Lancemore Milawa immerses guests between the vines of the Brown Brothers winery in Victoria’s high country. Melbourne-based practice The Stella Collective led the refurbishment of the hotel’s 40 rooms and suites, reception, vineyard and guest lounges, Merlot Restaurant & Bar and outdoor areas. Completed in 2023, the interiors draw inspiration from the owner’s travels to Morocco, described by the studio as a nostalgic tribute to 1970s Mediterranean and Arabic influences.
A strong sense of place is felt immediately on arrival. Set within established gardens and overlooking the vines, the hotel embraces its setting through free-flowing indoor and outdoor spaces. In the warmer months, guests can unwind in outdoor hammocks, poolside cabanas and sunbeds, while in winter, they can retreat by the fire pit or crescent-shaped fireplaces. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors and arched windows on the upper level frame the landscape at every turn. The guest rooms extend out to the gardens, neighbouring vineyards, or alpine mountains beyond.

Merlot Restaurant & Bar, named after the surrounding vineyard’s signature grape, champions seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.

Floor-to-ceiling glass doors and arched windows invite vineyard and alpine views into every space, grounding guests in the region’s natural beauty.

The Stella Collective responded to the surrounding landscape and climate, ensuring guests could fully appreciate their connection to place. Across the hotel’s two levels, a ‘Mediterranean Moorish’ influence unfolds through a sun-kissed palette, mosaic tiles, bespoke textiles, indoor potted plants, and low-slung seating. Artworks and sculptures from the owner’s private collection further accentuate the design narrative, including Sidney Nolan prints depicting Ned Kelly in the lobby. The onsite Merlot Restaurant & Bar, named after the vineyard’s signature grape, embodies the hotel’s relaxed ambiance and commitment to seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
Typifying Lancemore’s ‘curated places’ ethos, Lancemore Milawa is a considered country retreat that distils the best of the region’s produce, wine, and landscape into a refined yet unpretentious experience.

The guest rooms open onto manicured gardens, neighbouring vineyards, and distant alpine peaks, immersing guests in the region’s ever-changing landscape.

From poolside cabanas and sunbeds in summer to crescent-shaped fireplaces in winter, Lancemore Milawa embraces its setting in every season.
