Over the last couple of days, you must have seen some marketing activities relating to now being able to pay for your bills via Mpesa Till numbers using Telkom Kenya’s T-Kash or Airtel money options. The service has been enabled through Merchant interoperability that now allows Safaricom’s MPESA Tills to accept payments from other networks. All you need to do, is to navigate to your respective mobile money provider menu and look for the MPESA TILL option and seamlessly complete your transaction.
There have been several concerns on just how influential MPESA has been given it currently occupies more than 80 percent of the mobile money transactions in the country. In fact, latest reports indicate efforts by the government to have the service split from its parent company Safaricom to avoid the telco enjoying undue advantage over other service providers.
