With support across all three Nokia mobile platforms, the popular private chat room, Facebook Messenger, is about to attract a whole new audience. This follows the introduction of the trendy chat app on Nokia X, Nokia Lumia and Asha devices. Doing away with likes, shares and personal feeds, the Facebook Messenger app intends to be a pure conversation app, concentrating on you having private conversations with your friends
Users will not need to install the full Facebook app beforehand, which will be an advantage to people running low on memory on their smartphone. With the app, users can see who’s online, create group chats and send photos and stickers, all from within the standalone app.
If you’re using a Nokia Lumia your Facebook friends will be automatically added to your People Hub. You can also have pop up notifications on the Start Screen, while Nokia X and Asha owners will see notifications on Fastlane.
One other great feature is the ability to share your location, allowing friends to see whether you’re nearby. You can switch straight to a friends’ timeline if desired.
Commenting on the news, Nokia East Africa Operative Products and Devices Manager King’ori Gitahi said “With many of us using Facebook’s Messages feature more than email for private chatting, we welcome the cross-platform support. We also glad that user will get the opportunity to enjoy this development across all our Nokia mobile platforms.”
