The introduction of Dell Streak Pro 101DL to an already competitive Android market segment has elicited mixed reactions from consumers most of whom praised Dell’s initiative to significantly raise benchmarks within which high-end smart phones are grouped. During the same launch, Panasonic Lumix 101P was also unveiled featuring the most powerful 13.0-Megapixel digital camera in the industry so far; until now, smart phones ranging in the high-end genre have been known to house an 8.0-Megapixel camera or a lesser 5.0-Megapixel, a 13.0-megapixel camera is obviously breathtaking significantly raising benchmarks for other handset makers. On the other hand, Dell Streak Pro 101DL has not been left out, it boasts of a 1.5GHz dual core processor speed caching up with most of its peers in the same genre.
Panasonic deserves due credit for making
Lumix 101P the best handset in terms of camera megapixels; however, it does not add up to Dell Streak Pro 101DL’s processor performance with its 1GHz dual core though enough horsepower to handle 99 percent of Android applications seamlessly. Dell Streak Pro 101DL’s 1.5 GHz processor is braced to handle current Android apps seamlessly as well as perform multitasking functions without any difficulty. The handset runs on Android v2.3 Gingerbread operating system with additional pre-installed applications such as Dell stage 2.0 that significantly enhances user experience. If you thought Dell Streak Pro 101DL beat its
Lumix 101P peer on processor horsepower alone, think again; it comes with a larger 4.3 inch (540×960 pixels) QHD Super Amoled screen featuring a scratch resistant gorilla glass. Unlike its peer’s 13.0-Megapixel camera, it houses an 8.0-Megapixel digital camera that is further enhanced by CMOS sensor.
In addition to a rear camera, Dell Streak Pro 101DL houses a front facing 1.3-Megapixel camera essentially for video chatting as well as making those video calls. It boasts of several connectivity solutions such as SyncUP, IEEE802.11b/g/nWiFi and Bluetooth 2.1EDR; in addition, it features a MicroSDHC card slot to cater for additional storage needs. Dell Streak Pro 101DL supports both W-CDMA and GSM networks to meet variant consumer needs. It’s currently available on the Japanese market through Softbank’s carrier with no word on other markets.
